Rain made for a soggy spring football game in Colorado on Saturday, but that certainly didn't dampen the mood among the visiting recruits.
On Sunday, three recruits who visited the Boulder campus this weekend announced their verbal commitments to the Buffs, including brothers Brandon and Colton Hood and Clemson offensive line transfer Zack Owens.
All three were once teammates at Eagles Landing Christian Academy in McDonough, Georgia, and will now be teammates at CU, where they will play for head coach Deion Sanders.
Colton Hood is a cornerback who will join the Buffs as a transfer from Auburn. He's a 6-foot-1, 188-pound redshirt freshman with four years of eligibility remaining. He played in four games last season and recorded three tackles in 44 snaps played.
Hood was rated as a four-star prospect in the class of 2023 by 247Sports and received 28 offers from ELCA. He was also an all-state outfielder in baseball.
The 6-foot-1, 185-pound Brandon Hood is a class of 2024 with a three-star rating from 247Sports. He rushed for 3,087 yards and 36 touchdowns in his prep career. According to MaxPreps, he played in just five games (1,029 total yards) over the last two seasons and had 1,381 yards as a sophomore.
Former NFL defensive back Roderick Hood is an uncle to the two Hood brothers.
Like the Hoods, Owens was visiting Boulder this weekend and didn't leave without making his commitment to the Buffs and Sanders.
Owens is listed by Clemson as being 6-foot-4 and 375 pounds. Last season he appeared in two games and played 13 offensive snaps. He has four years of eligibility remaining.
Coming out of high school in the class of 2023, Owens was rated as a four-star prospect by 247Sports, which ranked him as the 18th-best tackle in the class. He had 24 scholarship offers, including from former CU staff.
Also on Sunday, former CU running back Dylan Edwards announced that he has chosen to transfer to Kansas State.
Edwards, who led CU with 321 rushing yards as a true freshman last season, put his name in the transfer portal on Tuesday. Edwards played at Derby (Kan.) High School before coming to CU. He originally committed to K-State in June 2022 before transferring to Notre Dame and then CU.
