Time to reveal secret bank shares?
There's a chance that Buffett will reveal the mysterious bet that has bought Berkshire for two quarters in a row.
In the third and fourth quarters of 2023, Berkshire was granted confidential treatment to keep the details of one or more of its shareholdings confidential.
Many speculated that the secret purchase could be a bank stock, as the conglomerate's cost base for equity investments in “banking, insurance and finance” rose by $3.59 billion in the second half of last year, according to separate Berkshire figures. files.
It is relatively rare for Berkshire to request such treatment. The last time it kept a purchase confidential was when it bought Chevron And Verizon in 2020.

First meeting without Charlie Munger
The annual meeting could start on a somber note with everyone thinking about Charlie Munger's absence.
Apart from the pandemic, it will be the first without Munger, Buffett's longtime partner who died in November at the age of 99.
For the first time, Berkshire will air its annual meeting film, which previously was reserved only for those attending in Omaha. Many speculate that this year will be a tearjerker tribute to Munger.
Vice Chairman of Non-Insurance Operations Greg Abel, Buffett's designated successor, will take Munger's seat during the afternoon session and help answer shareholder questions.
Munger left his mark on generations of investors in many ways through a long and fruitful life. He broadened Buffett's investment approach by focusing on quality companies that sell at fair prices. Shareholders also appreciated Munger's unique bluntness and humor.
