The cause of death of PGA Tour golfer Grayson Murray is suspected carbon monoxide poisoning

PGA Tour legend Grayson Murray died of suspected carbon monoxide poisoning, it was revealed just days after his family confirmed his death was a tragic suicide.

The troubled 30-year-old athlete is said to have left his Land Rover running in the garage early Saturday morning before heading upstairs to the master bedroom as the car pumped exhaust fumes into his three-storey Florida mansion. RadarOnline.com has learned.

Palm Beach Gardens locals later heard a carbon monoxide alarm go off and police were called to the $800,000 home around 11 a.m. Daily email reported.

A neighbor recalled hearing a loud spinning noise in those early hours, but said the noise stopped when he went outside to check. Police are still investigating what happened.

Murray sparked concern after withdrawing from the second round of the 2024 Charles Schwab Challenge on Friday, citing illness as the reason for his absence.

“Yes, I drank during tournament weeks,” Murray said after his victory at the Sony Open. “It was my outlet. I thought I was invincible when I came out here as a 22-year-old, won as a rookie and played with a hangover for three days when I won.”

Murray noted that his faith and his fiancée, Christiana Ritchiehelped him stay on the straight and narrow as he strived for greatness.
