NEW YORK — By filling out its weekend schedule next week, NewsNation will compete with the transition to a full news cable and satellite network it began in 2020.
The network announced this week that on June 1, a three-hour newscast led by Adrienne Bankert will begin on Saturdays and Sundays at 4 p.m. Eastern, replacing syndicated reruns of “Blue Bloods.”
The usually nonpartisan network has added other weekend programs in the past year, including a Sunday political show hosted by former Fox News executive Chris Stirewalt. NewsNation replaced the former WGN America network when it was purchased by Nexstar. During its time as WGN, a variety of entertainment programs were broadcast, mainly reruns.
NewsNation's weekday primetime lineup features its most visible personalities: Dan Abrams, Chris Cuomo and Ashleigh Banfield.
