Meta's social network Threads recently passed the 150 million monthly user mark, but the company isn't slowing down its growth engine. To increase engagement, the social media giant is running a limited-time bonus program for Threads.
The past few days have a lot of accounts to have posted about this program. The company confirmed to JS about a limited-time invite-only creator program, which began testing in March. Meta said invited creators will have “individualized” requirements for bonuses. At this time, the program is limited to creators in the US. The company said it could expand the program to other regions if successful.
Up support pageMeta says that invited creators must create a public Threads profile and follow the rules of Terms and Conditions for Incentives for Instagram Creators And rules for bonuses on Instagram. The company specified that Threads' post performance (views) and post count are some of the parameters that allow creators to receive bonuses.
There are also specific guidelines for what types of posts are eligible for the bonus program.
For example, one of the requirements states that a post must receive at least 2,500 views. Apart from that, Threads posts with copyrighted material, no text and enhanced views are not eligible for bonuses. Meta adds that the content should not have a watermark from another platform such as TikTok or YouTube. In addition, the content posted may not constitute a brand partnership notice.
Creators can view their earnings on the professional dashboard and may be required to earn a minimum amount to receive a payout.
“In some cases, you must earn a minimum amount to receive a bonus payout. If you do not reach the minimum amount, you will not receive a bonus payout, but you may be invited to participate in another bonus opportunity in the future,” the company explains.
This program could encourage Instagram users with many followers to post more on Threads and in turn transfer some of their followers as well. Instagram already shows suggested Threads in its app. Users may want to check out Meta's rival X more often when their favorite creators post to the app.
The new bonus program is also a good opportunity for creators who may be looking to build an audience on the new platform. The financial benefits may be temporary, however, as Meta has no long-term plans for creators to monetize Threads.
