According to a new poll released this week, a majority of voters in 2024 are likely to favor deporting illegal aliens over granting amnesty.
A study conducted by Rasmussen reports found that a majority of 54 percent of likely voters support a policy of mass deportation of all illegal aliens, including 36 percent of voters who “strongly” support it.
There are estimated 11 to 22 million illegal aliens in the United States.
“Rasmussen Reports' latest national telephone and online survey shows that if given a choice between two candidates, one of whom supported granting amnesty to illegal aliens and one of whom supported deportation of all illegal aliens, 52% of likely American voters would vote in the election. candidate who favored deportation,” the pollsters found. “Thirty-six percent (36%) would vote for the candidate who favors amnesty, while 12% are undecided.”
Breitbart News reports:
Working and lower-middle-class Americans, those most likely to compete for jobs with illegal aliens, continue to strongly support deportations. Nearly 60 percent of likely voters without a college education said they support the deportation of illegal aliens.
At the same time, the Americans most likely to hire illegal aliens for below-market wages are the most opposed to such deportation policies. A large majority, 63 percent, of those making $200,000 or more a year said they do not support the deportation of illegal aliens.
Fewer than four in 10 voters said they oppose mass deportations of illegal aliens.
The report notes that there is also a large gap in support along economic lines. It says: “Voters making between $30,000 and $50,000 a year said they oppose amnesty by a majority of 55 percent, as did 51 percent of those making $50,000 to $100,000. Conversely, nearly six in ten voters making $200,000 or more support amnesty for illegal aliens.”
Rasmussen surveyed 1,072 likely American voters between May 12 and 14, 2024. The margin of sampling error is +/- 3 percentage points at a 95% confidence level.
