Norm Eisen posted from the courtroom during the latest hearing on violations of Trump's gag order:
BREAKING: Judge charges Trump with contempt for the tenth time. This time fine BUT says
“Fines do not serve as a deterrent, prison sentences will be considered in the future”
In response to the jail warning, Trump gives Judge an absolute laser glare – if looks can kill… It's the same one I got last week (twice). Same as his mugshot, if you want to imagine it
Trump has put increasing pressure on Judge Merchan to impose the gag order, due in part to Trump's strategy to politicize the trial. It is also due to the fact that Donald Trump has never been held accountable in his life. He still tries to control the process and will challenge anyone who puts restrictions on him.
Jailing Trump would cause logistical problems. The likely option remains some kind of isolated confinement, such as house arrest, which would limit Trump's movements to court attendance for the duration of the trial.
Before he went to court Monday morning, Trump seemed to know what was coming. He lied to reporters and blamed the silence order, while refusing to answer a question about possible witnesses
If Donald Trump cannot control himself and follow the very strict ban until the end of the trial, he will eventually end up in jail.
