ON FOX FIRST: Closed-door interview dates with top college presidents have been announced as House Republicans continue to investigate anti-Semitism at educational institutions across the country.

Two university leaders were notified Wednesday by the House Committee on Education and the Workforce of upcoming transcribed interviews that will be closed to the press.

Yale University President Dr. Peter Salovey will speak to the committee in a private interview on June 20 at 10:30 a.m., and University of Michigan President Dr. Santa J. Ono is expected to speak for his own private session to appear. interview on August 9 at 10am

In a statement to Fox News Digital, committee chair Virginia Foxx, RN.C., said: “The committee has identified patterns of anti-Semitism on the Yale and Michigan campuses, as well as a general failure by these universities to protect Jewish students, that must be addressed . Salovey and Ono will appear before the committee for transcribed interviews and to answer questions about their files.”

“Interrogation will be conducted by counsel and/or committee staff designated by the Chairman and Ranking Member, respectively. The majority and minority will question you in alternating one-hour rounds, starting with the majority staff, until neither side has responded. remaining questions,” she wrote in letters to leaders on Wednesday.

“We have received the letter and President Santa J. Ono will appear for the transcribed interview,” University of Michigan spokesperson Colleen Mastony said in a statement.

A spokesperson for Yale University told Fox News Digital: “We are committed to working with the committee.”

The presidents of Northwestern University, Rutgers University and the University of California, Los Angeles testified before the committee earlier this month at a hearing titled, “Call for Accountability: Stop Anti-Semitic College Chaos.”

The hearing came just weeks after a high-profile pro-Palestinian encampment spread at Columbia University and as schools across the country continued to grapple with their own demonstrations, including incidents of anti-Semitism.

The presidents of Michigan and Yale were originally scheduled to appear at the same hearing.

The outbreak of anti-Semitism on college campuses is linked to the outbreak of war between Israel and the terrorist group Hamas in Gaza, which began in October 2023 after the group murdered Israeli civilians and took hostages in a surprise attack.

Since then, anti-Semitic incidents have skyrocketed across the country. In the first three months after the Hamas terrorist attack, more anti-Semitic incidents occurred between 2013 and 2021 than in the entire period 2013-2021, with the exception of 2022. Requests for comment from the University of Michigan remained unanswered at press time.
