The names at the top of November's ballots will be familiar to Americans who have previously voted for or against them. Except one.
Donald Trump must choose a new running mate. After the 2020 election, he fell out with then-Vice President Mike Pence after Pence refused to help Trump overturn the election. For this cardinal sin, Pence has been excommunicated from the MAGA movement (and has indicated he will not support his former running mate).
Trump will choose his new running mate in July, when the Republican National Convention takes place in Milwaukee to formally nominate the party's ticket.

As for who he will choose? It's perhaps the biggest party game in Washington right now, with more than two dozen names floating around. The big question is which criteria he will focus on. How important is loyalty? Political help? Choosing an election winner?
