RedMagic unveils gaming laptop powered by an RTX 4070

RedMagic has started teasing a gaming laptop on its official Weibo feeds, and it looks like the company is gearing up to announce the laptop this month. RedMagic has so far mainly focused on releasing gaming smartphones, although it does offer a few products that have nothing to do with phones at all. In fact, a gaming laptop wouldn't be RedMagic's first foray into the PC gaming market. It currently offers a 4K gaming monitor (sold out), as well as a gaming keyboard, gaming mouse, and gaming mouse pad.

That said, this would be the first time the company has ventured into making a true gaming PC. If the laptops are even half as good as the gaming phones, it will probably be a success. The RedMagic 9 Pro was a pretty good piece of hardware. Not to mention it's cheaper than other similar options. That should mean that RedMagic's gaming laptop will have the same competitive pricing structure. However, there is currently no confirmed price point. Not even rumors.

RedMagic may reveal pricing information at the official announcement event, but there's also no guarantee the laptop will be released globally or even in the US. As for the specs, not much is known about the specifics yet, but there are a few key details that have emerged.

RedMagic Gaming Laptop (1)

The RedMagic gaming laptop may come with an RTX 4070 GPU

RedMagic has teased the laptop on its PC Weibo account, but those teasers don't include any specs. They also don't mention that the product is even a laptop, even though that's pretty obvious. There are still some specs to consider, though, thanks to a Geekbench listing for the upcoming machine. According to NotebookCheckthe Geekbench list reveals that the laptop is powered by an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 GPU. The listing also shows that RedMagic will use the Intel Core i9-13950HX CPU as its processor.

This is a pretty good CPU for gaming laptops. And it's mostly found in the best flagship options from other brands. Most of these tend to be on the more expensive side. This could indicate that RedMagic's laptop will be slightly more expensive. However, it is also important to remember that this is RedMagic. The company prides itself on offering powerful gaming products that are priced very competitively. The Intel Core i9-13950HX is also a latest generation CPU. So we don't expect the laptop price to be excessively high.

Geekbench also states that the laptop will have 16GB of DDR5 RAM and come with a 280W power supply.

A gaming tablet may also be on the way

A gaming laptop might not be the only new gaming hardware on the way from RedMagic. One of the company's teasers shows a second rectangular device. At first glance, you might think this is just a second screen size for the upcoming laptop. However, a closer look seems to reveal what could be a rear camera setup in the top corner.

A laptop wouldn't have a rear camera on the back of the lid. However, the shape of the device in the teaser appears to be almost the same size as the laptop, if not off by a few centimeters. RedMagic already makes gaming phones that run on Android. So it seems only fitting that natural evolution would one day lead to an Android gaming tablet being created. Of course, there is no guarantee that this is the device. But it seems quite plausible given the potential camera array and larger size.
