Rachel Reeves promises 'most growth-enhancing government bond in history'

Labour's shadow chancellor Rachel Reeves will commit to leading the “most pro-growth Treasury in our country's history” if her party wins the July 4 election.

In her first major economic speech of the campaign, Reeves will promise to “bring growth back to Britain” and deliver a pro-business, pro-labor government led by Sir Keir Starmer.

Reeves, a former Bank of England economist, will address business leaders and emphasize that Labor has evolved to serve working people and support business growth. She is expected to claim: “If we can change this party to put it back at the service of working people, if we can bring it back to the center of politics, if we can bring business back to Labour, then I know we can do that. bring business back to Britain.”

Reeves will emphasize her commitment to economic stability with strict spending rules and a joint approach with businesses. She will highlight Labour's vision of a “mission-led government” built on economic stability and contrast this with the current Conservative government.

“We will fight this election on the economy,” Reeves will declare. “Every day we will expose the damage they have caused and set out Labour's alternative. Five missions for a decade of national renewal. And six first steps to show the way to a better Britain.”

The speech comes just hours after Labor won support in an open letter from a coalition of 120 business leaders, who claim Britain needs a 'new outlook' to overcome a decade of economic stagnation.

However, Treasury principal secretary Laura Trott criticized Labour's economic plans. Trott highlighted concerns from business leaders about Labour's proposed trade union laws, claiming they could damage the economy and lead to job losses.

“Rishi Sunak and the Conservatives have a clear plan that businesses can rely on. We took the bold action of passing the largest corporate tax cut in modern history. Labor would tie businesses into red tape and increase taxes on hardworking families by £2,094,” Trott warned.

Reeves' speech aims to position Labor as the party of economic growth and stability, which will appeal to both businesses and workers as the election approaches.
