MSNBC's Nicolle Wallace Triggered By Trump's Endorsement Of Nikki Haley, Says Only 'Cult Experts' Can Explain It (VIDEO) | The Gateway expert

MSNBC host Nicolle Wallace appeared to panic over Nikki Haley's endorsement of Donald Trump, suggesting only “cult experts” could explain her decision.

Haley confirmed Thursday at an event hosted by the Hudson Institute that she would vote for Trump, despite previously declining to support him after withdrawing from the race for the Republican presidential nomination.

Wallace, who served as White House communications director under George W. Bush, was predictably shocked by the approval.

Here is a transcript of the exchange.

NBC REPORTER VAUGHN HILLYARD: Nikki Haley said in 2015, “Donald Trump is everything I taught my kids not to do in kindergarten. I told my little ones: don't lie or make things up.' She eventually served in his government.

WALLACE: Who are these people?!

HILL: On January 6, she called it “an ugly day.” She then went and said – a few months later that she would not run for president against him. She eventually ran for president. And then we saw Nikki Haley – while her husband was deployed to Africa with the US military – being mocked by Donald Trump for being away. And it was Nikki Haley's words that were very explicit about Donald Trump. [She] said in part, “They were disgusting, horrible and unhinged,” and said that “anyone who makes comments like that doesn't deserve to be commander in chief.” Her own husband took to social media and fired back, saying: 'The difference between humans and animals – animals would never allow the stupidest to take charge.'

His allies spread extramarital rumors about her. This is someone who suggested that she might not even be eligible to run for president because her parents are immigrants. And today, I think, the announcement that she's going to vote for Donald Trump is just another chapter in something that we went through eight years ago with people like Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio. She did raise her hand in that Republican debate and said she would vote for a convicted felon if Donald Trump were found guilty. And today as proof that she keeps her word.

WALLACE: We need psychiatrists and cult experts to explain this, because what you're reporting doesn't make any sense to me at all, and it's so recent. I mean, JD Vance said something similar in 2015. But the fact that she and her husband both publicly argued with him for several days and weeks before supporting him is inexplicable to me on a human level.

HILL: I think it's power. And I think in American politics, access to power and a party you identify with is a future. And I think we have a large number of individuals who have proven time and time again that staying closely associated with Donald Trump is a guarantee that you will be relevant in politics if you choose to stay in politics.

WALLACE: It's unbelievable. Incredible.

Unlike Wallace, Nikki Haley may be beginning to realize that the Republican Party of George Bush and John McCain is dead and never coming back.
