MotoGP 24 launches today for PC, PlayStation and Xbox

The launch of MotoGP 24 has arrived today for PC and console platforms. The game was first announced in mid-March of this year. As with previous MotoGP games, players can choose from a wide variety of riders, this time throughout the 2024 season. MotoGP 24, developed by Milestone, introduces quite a few improvements over the past few games. Particularly the inclusion of the Riders Market.

According to Milestone, this new feature is highly requested by the community. And it's finally available, allowing players to switch their rider to new teams and promotions between classes. However, the Riders Market feature goes far beyond the ability to switch teams. Milestone has some AI elements baked in that sound like they're intended to mimic the kinds of situations that might arise if all this were to happen in real life. For example, Milestone says that both future prospects and the current value of other bikes on the grid can determine the choices AI riders make.

The team transfer system is leveraged by the social network structure that Milestone also introduced last year. The game has its own fictional social network, and likes and comments on posts can fuel team transfer rumors. That could also play a role in the choices that AI drivers make.

The launch of MotoGP 24 is also coming to the Nintendo Switch

This isn't really new information, as this was also announced in March. But it's worth repeating in case the Switch is your platform of choice. In addition to PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One, the Nintendo Switch will also receive a copy of MotoGP 24. However, there are a few things worth mentioning. MotoGP 24 supports cross-play, but only for Play station and Xbox.

Both PC and Nintendo Switch players can only play with other players from their respective platforms. So if you know some of your friends are going to do that play on PCPlayStation or Xbox, you may want to consider buying the game on one of these if you want to play with it.

Break the rules, pay the price

One of the cooler new features in the game is the presence of knockback that players can receive. Both players and AI drivers can face penalties for various reasons. If you break the rules, you pay the price and contribute to the consequences. These can range from simple warnings to time penalties, as well as long lap and pass orders. Players can even get a canceled qualifying time if the rule broken is serious enough.

This element adds another sense of realism that encourages players to be on their best behavior. However, you may also want to increase the intensity of the rivalry between you and another rider. And careless driving will further fuel this rivalry, which could make for some interesting races down the road. MotoGP 24 is available for $49.99 on all platforms mentioned above.
