Maxine Waters warns that Trump supporters are planning an attack if he loses the race

Democratic US Representative Maxine Waters has raised the alarm about Donald Trump's supporters planning a violent attack if the presumptive 2024 Republican presidential nominee loses the upcoming election.

“First of all, you can't trust anything Donald Trump has to say,” Waters responded. She said that if Trump loses, “he will say it was fraud.”

“He still hasn't accepted what happened in the last presidential election,” she continued. “And so we should be very concerned about a former president of the United States talking about attacking his own country, about perhaps a massacre. When we talk about there might be problems.”

“We have to take him seriously,” Waters asserted. “This man doesn't believe in the Constitution. He wants to be a dictator.”

The congressman was a guest on MSNBC on Sunday.

Capehart noted this in a recent article Time During an interview, Trump said he would adhere to constitutional term limits if elected.

Trump says in it Time During an interview, he said he would not seek to overturn or ignore the Constitution's ban on third terms,” he said. 'Should the American people believe that? You believe that?”

“No. Absolutely not,” Waters replied firmly. “Like I said, you can't believe anything Donald Trump has to say. Donald Trump will do anything he can get away with. He supports the Constitution of the United States of America at all. This is a man we better be careful with.”

Waters insisted that Trump would not concede an election loss and worried about the possible consequences.

She further emphasized the need for the government to tell the public “what our country is going to do to protect us.” [Trump].”

“And I'll tell you what I'm going to do,” she continued. “I'm going to ask the Justice Department and the president to tell us what they're going to do to protect this country from violence if he loses.”

Trump said in a recent interview with Time that he would adhere to the Constitution's presidential term limits if elected.

“I want to know about all these right-wing organizations that he's connected to that are training in the hills somewhere and targeting, you know, which communities they're going to attack,” Waters warned. “We need to know now – since he tells us there will be violence if he loses – we need to know what his plan is and how we will be protected.”

Rep. Robert Garcíaanother California congressman, also appeared on the MSNBC show on Sunday and agreed with Waters' position.

“The congressman is absolutely right,” he told Capehart. “Make no mistake and let's be crystal clear. If Donald Trump is re-elected, there is no doubt that he will seek to remain in office beyond his four-year term.”

“He will destroy this country, our democracy, he will change the way we organize elections, he will attack secretaries of state, and he will do everything he can to stay in power,” Garcia continued.

“We won't have the country we know today. It's sobering, it's scary, but we have to take it seriously.”
