Fauci says he still fears someone will kill him

Fauci says he still fears someone will kill him, Former White House medical adviser Anthony Fauci says he still fears someone will kill him one day.

“I still think, deep down, there’s a possibility that someone is going to kill me,” Fauci said an interview with USA Today released on Wednesday. “So that’s a possibility I’d rather not have to think about, but it’s true.”

Fauci noted that he has “become a target of people with extremist views.”

The former director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases has been regularly targeted by conservatives for his handling of the COVID-19 pandemic, and in 2022 a West Virginia man was sentenced to just over three years in prison after making threats to his address. him and others.

“One of the unfortunate aspects of the outbreak was that it occurred at a time of great division in our society,” Fauci told USA Today.

“And there was an inordinate amount of non-productive ‘Gotcha,’” he continued. “This side is against this side.”

In another recent interview on CBS with Stephen Colbert, Fauci was asked by the comedian how he would “diagnose America as a patient now.” Fauci said Colbert would need a surgeon rather than an internal medicine doctor, to which the host responded by asking what he would say if he were a psychologist.

“There is some degree of schizophrenia in the country,” Fauci said. “It’s just, it really is, I mean, how far apart people can be, they seem to forget how much we’re alike, but we act like we’re so, so different.”
