Democrat MA Town who voted overwhelmingly for Joe Biden, furious they got what they voted for | The Gateway expert

Norfolk, the Bay State Correctional Center in Massachusetts

The 11,500 residents of Norfolk, Massachusetts voted overwhelmingly for Joe Biden in 2020.

Now residents are confident they will get exactly what they voted for.

The state announced it will renovate the Massachusetts Bay State Correctional Center in Norfolk, which previously served as a minimum-security dormitory. The move will provide relief and housing for the hundreds of illegal immigrants currently camping at Boston's Logan International Airport for six to 12 months.

But residents aren't happy about Biden's border crisis coming to their backyard.

At a Select Board meeting on Wednesday, about 300 residents attended to express their concerns about the influx of illegal immigrants into their town and their frustration at being left in the dark about the plans.

Residents also demanded answers about the impact the move would have on community services, including schools, emergency services and the overall city budget.

Fox News reports:

'Let's be honest: we don't want it here. We don't do that,” said resident John Semas, according to GBH.

“And it doesn't make us bad people, it doesn't make me compassionate, it doesn't make me a bad father.” Semas was among a small group of people wearing shirts and posters that read “Save Norfolk: No Shelter,” the publication reported.

At Wednesday's meeting, resident Lauren Vives said the shelter could pose a financial burden on the town, which has only two elementary schools, one ambulance, a small police and fire department and no grocery store.

“The proposal to increase the population of our city by 4% overnight is ridiculous,” Vivas said, according to GBH. She said the plan shows “a lack of respect” for the city.

Watch:

The Gateway Pundit reported that Massachusetts' Democratic Governor Maura Healey has approved hundreds of millions in new spending for illegal immigrants, even as people flee the state for greener pastures in early May.

In April, state Democrats made sure state residents knew exactly who they were prioritizing.

A bill in the Massachusetts House of Representatives aimed at prioritizing U.S. military veterans for aid over illegal immigrants was defeated.

The bill, known as “Homeless Veterans Prioritization for Shelter Assistance,” was defeated by a vote of 27 to 129. The majority of Democrats opposed it, while all 25 Republicans in the House of Representatives, along with two Democrats, supported it.
