BEFORE AND AFTER: Photos show the destruction of Biden's $320 million Gaza pier

Fox News Digital has obtained satellite images of the now-destroyed temporary pier that the US military installed on the Gaza coast earlier this month.

The $320 million structure held up for about a week before turbulent weather tore it apart. President Biden's administration says it is working on repairs to the pier, but they have not provided a timeline for completion. The pier was used as a conduit for delivering aid to Gaza.

The images show that less than a third of the pier remains intact and there is no trace of the remains of the deeper parts of the structure.

The US announced on Tuesday that it had been forced to suspend aid deliveries to the pier, even though much of the damage had occurred earlier.

Four ships that had stabilized the pier broke away earlier this week due to choppy waters, leading to its deterioration.

Of the four stabilization vessels released earlier this week, two boats drifted north and landed on a beach in Ashdod, Israel, while the other two remain anchored near the beach near the pier.

Although the pier has been used to transfer about 569 tons of aid to Gaza, no aid had been delivered to the Palestinians as of last week, the Pentagon confirmed.

The pier's failure comes as Israel carried out a significant operation operation in Rafah, with tanks rolling into the heart of the city for the first time since the start of the war.

Witnesses in Rafah told Reuters that the Israeli army appeared to be using remotely operated armored vehicles as there was no immediate sign of personnel in or around them. The Israeli military has not commented on these reports.
